zeus.coventry.ac.uk is our new HPC, which is available for testing. It comprises of:
- 144 standard compute nodes, each of them having:
- 8-core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU L5530 @ 2.40GHz
- 48 Gb of RAM
- 100Gb local Solid State Drive (SSD) scratch space (/tmp)
- 18 GPU-based compute nodes zeus200…zeus217, which also have powerful 12-core Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2440 @ 2.40GHz (codename Sandybridge)
- one SMP node zeus5 with 4×8-core (32 cores in total) Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-4620 and 500Gb of RAM
- 15Tb of users’ disk space backed up nightly
- QDR (40 GBps) Infiniband interconnect
- four login nodes zeus…zeus for pre/post processing of the users’ jobs/codes
You can just log in to “zeus” with:
ssh zeus
and be brought to one of the four identical login nodes zeus…zeus. Users’ home folders are shared across all login and compute nodes. So it does not matter from which login node to launch the job. Of course, if you prefer a particular login node you can still do “ssh zeus”, “ssh zeus2”, ..etc up to zeus.
You cannot login to compute nodes from login nodes unless you have a job submitted and running on that nodes.
